History

The fellowship was started in the late 1980’s by a few Christians who felt limited in the act of worship to our Lord.

At first we started going to Honiton Baptist Church led by the Reverend Frank Burnham and his wife. Frank noticed that there were quite a few coming from Bridport, although we were unaware of each other. Frank suggested that we would be better meeting in Bridport once a week, on a weekday evening with him coming over to minister to us.

This went on for a while until just after Easter when a number of people came back from Spring Harvest and felt we should meet on a Sunday morning in Bridport.

Frank and his wife came over to meet with us, and we told him of our decision. Worship went on so long we gave him only a few minutes to speak. He gave us a choice we could become either a cruise liner or a battle ship! We all choose the later with God’s help, taking on the mantel of Jesus “to preach good news to the poor. To proclaim freedom for the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind, and release of the oppressed and to proclaim the time of the Lord’s favour.” Matt.4:18.

To learn to love each other as He has loved us, seeking always to be in the centre of His will. Knowing that can only be bought into effect by the Holy Spirit in the centre of all we do!
